that I need to install WinBlowsXP as a dual boot on my pc. There are certain things I NEED to do that are still not possible in Linux (or if it is, I can't get the information I need to carry out the tasks required). Believe me...If I could get away with not having WinBlowsXP on my system, then I certainly would. I need to get Macromedia Dreamweaver MX up and running on my PC, but can't get it to work (using the latest Wine). I need to create a VPN connection with a windows2000 server at work and install/run a windows application across the network, etc etc.

Therefore Can some please advise me...can I install WindBlowsXP when Linux already installed, so that it will dual boot between the two - Or do I have to install WindBlowsXP first and then dual boot with Linux. I have FD3 installed on HDD2 but should have a HDD1 that I can put XP on.

Make a boot floppy and then install Windows. Boot to Linux, add Winows to the boot loader config file and re-load the boot loader. I am not familiar with grub, so you will have too look that up.

Floppy - what's one of them :-) Sorry it's just been a while since I used one of those things (don't even think I own one any more. Can I create a Boot CD instead that emulates a boot floppy? if so, how would I go about this please?

Or maybe you could talk me through the steps of getting Dreamweaver installed and working with Wine on FC3. This would temporarily pull me out of the s**t and save me the hastle of having to dual boot at the mo. in time?

From what I heard, Dreamweaver MX will not run under Wine. So I guess you are SOL on that one. I heard the versions before MX will work, but I only used Dreamweaver once.

I have no real experience with FC3, but on Slackware, you can boot to the first CD and type bare.i /dev/hda3 noinitrd ro. Where is bare.i is the kernel to load, /dev/hda3 is the root partition. I would Google and see if FC3 can be recovered like that.

I did look into making a recovery CD, but did not have any luck making one. Most where old how to's. If the first FC3 CD will do what the Slackware one will, you can boot to linux. Then you can reload the bootloader and then you will be in business.

Windows will blow away your current linux boot loader. However, you can boot off a linux boot cd (like knoppix or your distributions rescue CD) and reinstall the bootloader after you isntall windows. Grub and Lilo can both boot windows as well as linux, but grub is perhaps a bit more robust.
