Trouble compiling gedit-2.8.2 and kdelibs-3.4.0 [SOLVED]

I'm running VidaLinux and using the Porthole GUI for Portage to try to compile these packages. They both get pretty far into the process before failing. I searched for this in the forums, and couldn't find it -- I'm sorry if I just missed it. I have my logs saved, so please tell me if I should post more of them here (I don't really know where the problem starts, sorry). Any suggestions/links to forums in which this is already discussed would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
