I am using TightVNC, and when I access my Raspberry Pi from my laptop, and for example, open the terminal, nothing happens on the server (Pi). I request a screen refresh, and nothing changes. Is there a mode I have to change to be able to actually remote control it?
TightVNC requires a client and a server, so if your Pi doesn't have the server portion installed, it won't work. You should also check and make sure it's running and that it can be reached at that IP address.
