Thunderbird Menu Bar, Menu Fonts

I am trying to adjust the fonts that Thunderbird uses for its menu bar, its menus, and for the listing of the available menus. None of the settings in the [Edit, Preferences, Fonts] menu path seem to adjust these items. I found out through lots of research on the web that I could adjust the equivalent items in Firefox by editing the file userChrome.css in the "chrome" directory of the .mozilla directory path. I tried this for Thunderbird as well, but it doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone know how to adjust the fonts Thunderbird uses for menus, menubars, and mailboxes?

Thanks!
