It seems my hard disk is beyond recoverable state. Its been running with dd_rescue for a long time - 7 days.. All I got was a total of 6.3mb of error data. I guess have lost all the datas. All of my precious collections and everything. My dadäs thesis work he had to work all along, and thank lord he had some hard copies to go with.

Fortunately, eventhough I have opened the case, toshiba has agreed to replace my hard disk with a new one, free of cost.

I think I have learned it the hard way, the lesson to backup data..

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the help and support you have given me, all the explanation you gave me So patiently, like a Top Scientist guiding a High School Kid..

Please let me know what I should you with this thread ? Mark it as Solved ? or Is there anything I can do with it ?
