Tarball?

Here we go with yet another noob question...I have the latest Nvidia drivers on CD, and now, I have to ask...

How do you uncompress this? I have NO IDEA where to begin.

Take a stab at our glossary term for tar, it has somewhat instructions on how to uncompress or untar tarballs/tar.gz files.

The Nvidia site has a step by step on installing their drivers - they were a great help to me. Have you been there yet?

I'm going to do that as well as study the command-line steps here. I will probably need both...whew...I wonder if I was like this when I was learning Windoze?

Probably not - you should also d/l and run nvchooser.sh - it tells you which drivers you need to run. You may also want to amend your xfree86 config file before the drivers go on. I did it afterwards and spent time having to learn to edit files via the command line. The Lynx command line browser helped me get to these pages for more help though.

Not a totally wasted time then!
