System hang after reboot SOLUTION

hey there

i noticed while searching for a solution the this problem myself, that many have asked the question, "why does my system hang, after installing xxx distro?".

well, after speaking to Red Hat, i found out that, at least for me, the problem was to do with ICH9. ICH9 is the chipset that some mobo's use for the southbridge. i found out that RHEL5 at least, which im using, does not support ICH(, but patches are coming.

so if you're having problems with the system hanging, see if it could be to do with ICH9

Do you know who manufactures this ICH9 chip? Most of us know chips by their manufacturer. (Nvidia, Intel, Via, etc.)

ICH9 stands for I/O Controller Hub 9, and is produced by Intel:
