OK, this has probably been asked, but I haven't found it anywhere here. Is the a program equivalent to AdAware or Spybot Search and Destroy for Linux? I can't inmagine it's as much of a problem on Linux if you have your cookie stuff set correctly on your browser. And obviously registry hacks are really a thing without a registry, but just thought there might be something to scan for spyware.
I dont believe such a program exists due to the fact that spyware in linux is almost impossible. Just as you eluded to, as long as your browser is setup right and you use a good browser, Mozilla, Galeon, Firefox, Opera you should have none of the problems associated with spyware.
for those of us stuck in the firmly entrenched M$ world, a live CD with some means of booting and removing spyware, viruses and other ilk off of infested Winblows machines would be handy.
I know there are options for the virus removal, but spyware removal (of infested winblows machines.) would be nice, too.
That would certainly be a good demo, how we can use Linux to dope slap Winblows machines back into working order. Spybot S&D (on winblows) does give you the options to download the source code, so I would say that it's possible...just not likely.
Again, such a tool would be extremely useful for us Linux guys stuck in the Micro$oft trenches.

Well it ceartainly would be easy enough to infect Linux with Spyware/Addware
Opera free version is addware though not melicious in any way and fixed by the liscense fee.
I'm suprised Limewire is not spyware trojan like it is on Winblows.....
It's just a matter of no bang for the effort so no one so far does it.
That will change as Linux becomes more used on desktop
