"Snorkeling on an empty pipe": error in S-mailx (mailx 4.19.11)

The latest mailx has a bug: it opens files with O_NOFOLLOW , so it doesn't work properly with links. The maintainer says he will fix it in the next version. It reports 'Snorkeling on an empty pipe' because there's also a failure in looking up errors; that's meant to be a humo(u)rous rendition of 'empty pipe'.
