Silicon Image SATA driver in Redhat 9

Hello
I have just installed Redhat 9 on my computer for the first time and it was pretty succesfull except for one thing: I can't boot from my harddrive

I have an ASUS A7N8X mobo with a silicon image 3112 controller with a seagate 160 Gb on it. I have downloaded the driver for the controller on asus.com and installed it like the instructions said, but when I boot there is just a command line:
Grub>

I can boot the computer from a boot floppy by typing:
linux hde=noprobe hdg=noprobe
Then it all works fine.

What do I have to do to make it work?

I really need some feedback because I have searched the web and I just can't find anything that helps me. If I can't solve this problem I have to install Windows XP again.

Hope you can help me.

I have tried to install Redhat again and now there is another message when I boot. It says Kernel panic, no Initrd. The driver dokumentation says I have to modify the GRUB boot loader, but I am not sure how to do this. I will post my Grub.conf later.

okay here is my Grub.conf :
# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You do not have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /, eg.
# root (hd0,0)
# kernel /boot/vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/sda1
# initrd /boot/initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/sda
default=0
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Red Hat Linux (2.4.20-8smp)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8smp ro root=LABEL=/
initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.20-8smp.img
title Red Hat Linux-up (2.4.20-8)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8 ro root=/dev/sda1
initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.20-8.img

It seems that it works if I write hde=noprobe hdg=noprobe when I boot from floppy. How do I write this into Grub?
