Set up email notification when push something to repositories

Hi guys,
I setup my git-server using git-scm. I want to set up email notification which push email to maillinglist automatically when something are pushed to repo. I copy file post-receive-email to hooks directory, and modifies config file look like:

[core]
repositoryformatversion = 0
filemode = true
bare = true
[hooks]
mailinglist = exam@mycompany.com
showrev = "git show -C %s; echo"
emailprefix = "[from git server] "

But it dont work.
Could you please suggest me settup email notification for git server!
P/s: may be i haven't config smtp server in config file. But i don't know how to do this, ^_^
