script or app mailcheck app from shell

I'm looking for a simple script that can display the number of unread email and total amount of emails on a remote pop3 server.
Does anyone know of any such software/script?

Thanks

/Peter

One of these should be what you're looking for - from a quick glance, Melon looks like it's half way there.

If you can't find it, maybe you would like to code it yourself? I'm sure some people would appreciate it, and it gives you a good reason to learn a langauge like Perl

Cheers,

-jk
