SATA expansion card

My Cybertron custom has two SATA ports on MOBO, one for HDD, one for optical drive. Wanted to add second HDD so bought a iocrest 2 port card with the following results:

BOOT ORDER

Moved HDD to #1 boot position (#3 after USB stick and optical drive didn't work at all)

INSTALLATION

Installed SATA Expansion Card (SEC)

Installed 2nd HDD

CONNECTIONS

Optical Drive (OD) cable moved from mobo port to SEC

Cabled 2nd HDD to mobo

Note: lshw shows SEC but not connected device

RESULTS

W/ nothing connected to card, boots/runs either LinuxMint (LM) or WinXP normally

W/ HDD connected to card, boots but loops at OS choice screen

W/ OD connected to card, boots into LM but XP loops at “loading” screen w/out loading or starting

On start, SEC data panel appears before BIOS boot or mobo “MSI” flash. Why is card found even before BIOS? Weird

What model is your Cybertron? Is a BIOS update for its motherboard available?

http://www.iocrest.com/en/product_details321_a.html says:
Quote:
Compatible with SATA 6G, 3G, and 1.5G Hard Drive
It is not unusual that SECs do not support optical drives. The quoted statement implies this may be applicable to your Cybertron, since it only lists HDs.

Please connect a HD to the SEC, and optical drive to motherboard port, then boot a Linux live media device and provide output from:
Code:
lsscsi
lsblk
blkid
lshw -class disk -class storage
fdisk -l
inxi -D
cat /etc/fstab
pastebinit /boot/grub/grub.cfg
bootinfoscript
