rpmdb: /var/lib/rpm/Packages: unsupported hash version: 8
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - Invalid argument (22)

The first thing to do is try and rebuild the rpm database. Open a console and run:

$ su
<enter root password>
# rpm -rebuilddb

Try this as root:

# rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db* && rpm --initdb && rpm --rebuilddb

This command should remove the corrupted db files an rebuild the db.
