Question RH 7.2 Problem with mouse

I recently upgraded from Red Hat 6.1 to 7.2. Now, either startx bombs out (can't find mouse), or Xfree comes up with out the mouse. All was well in 6.1, and I have re-installed 3 times without success. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to get around this?

My XF86Config seems to be correct

Protocol Microsoft

I am using a Micosoft wheel mouse

Thanks.

What port does it plug into?
You may have to change the Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
to ps/2 if its a ps/2 mouse.

I usually use /dev/psaux if it's a ps/2 mouse. As for protocol I think I was using imps/2 for my old MS Wheelmouse.
