reiserfsck --fix-fixable -> --fix-fixable ignored - why?

I ran resierfsck. It returned that it found 3 errors that could be fixed with --fix-fixable. I then ran reiserfsck --fix-fixable & get this:

# reiserfsck --fix-fixable --logfile fixable.log /dev/sdb1

<-------------reiserfsck, 2002------------->
reiserfsprogs 3.6.4

Will check consistency of the filesystem on /dev/sdb1
and will fix what can be fixed w/o --rebuild-tree
Will put log info to 'fixable.log'

Do you want to run this program?[N/Yes] (note need to type Yes if you do):Yes
###########
reiserfsck --fix-fixable started at Fri Jan 7 12:45:03 2005
###########
Filesystem seems mounted read-only. Skipping journal replay.
--fix-fixable ignored
Checking internal tree..finished
Comparing bitmaps..Checking Semantic tree:
finished
3 found corruptions can be fixed with --fix-fixable
check_and_free_buffer_mem: dirty buffer (4 16) found
###########
reiserfsck finished at Fri Jan 7 12:47:51 2005
###########

Why is it ignoring --fix-fixable? What do I need to do so it doesn't ignore it?

got it.

to run reiserfsck (--check), the fs must be mounted as ro.

to run --fix-fixable, the fs cannot be mounted.
