Recommend me distro

My friend has discovered old 486 with 16MB RAM and we decided to make a webserver for intranet from it.

Recommend me some distro, it cannot boot from CD, I'd have to make initial boot from diskettes.

You'll have to make a boot floppy or do a network install then. That 486 may not run for long. Power supply and hard drive have got to be old. What does it have, a 120 - 500MB hard drive?

Slackware is my choice. You'll need to do some searching though, it's all a matter of preference.

I'd say slackware as well. simple-secure and will be nice to that small RAM.

Debian sarge. You can make some floppys for a minimal install.
