Ran out of space on Slackware Linux and can't remove packages because theres not enou

I have so much stuff in Linux that I can't remove packages anymore. So how can I
free up a little space without removepkg.

p.s. I can't get into gnome anymore so i need a way to delete files in the
slackware terminal or whatever.

I have some .tgz and tar.gz that I want to delete, so how do I delete them?

you could always go in with a live cd like knoppix, or possible your slackware install cd, if it will give you a terminal. You will just need to mount your partition and start deleting.

The command for deleting in a terminal is rm

rm somefile.tar.gz

Please make sure you don't delete something that you do need! If in doubt, don't delete.

you can always add the -i to be safe too.

-i = interactive mode. this will then prompt you for a yes or no answere for every file you want to delete.

example:

rm -i file
you are about to remove file Yes or No.

at this point you have to type in yes or no for it to continue.

if you have a directory you want to rm, then you need the -r or -R

if you have some files you might want to keep and have a cdburning, then you can use the mkiso | cdrecord combo and burn chunks of it out to CD via the CLI.

have you done alot of Kernel updating??
if so, have you kept the older kernel and modules directories??
if you don't need them now........get rid of them.
