Opengl on Cairo dock...

Started running Cairo dock on a play around laptop, Lenovo T510-i5 520m running debian mate, I'm using Marco adaptive compositor and when I opened Cairo dock it asked to start opengl. From what I was reading that it worked best with opengl so against my better judgement I agreed. Problem I'm having is after a few moments of playing around with the dock settings and geeking out I heard my fan kick up to very high rpms so I opened psensor and the temps were getting dangerously high. Is this due to opengl and the integrated graphics? I'm not sure Marco will handle it. Any advice is appreciated. I hope I posted this in the right forum I guess it could be software or hardware related. My apologies if not.
