no capture device?

Hi everyone, have a probelm with tvtime. When i go and run it, the screen is blue and says that there is no signal, the cable is plugged into the back. There is also another error saying that there is no cpature device, and no video in /dev/video0, does anyone know how i can solve this and start watching tv. I have somewhat of the same problem with avview but when i open it, the screen disappears each time i go and open it, with no errors. Can't seem to figure it out.

what vivo card are you using? I know when I set this up awhile ago, you need to have a driver for your tv tuner chipset.

I can't say about the 9700, but I had a ATI Radeon video capture card (PCI) - Linux had the Video drivers that worked well, but it did not support the 'video in' feature of the card.

Put back in my dual head matrox and installed a cheep Brooktree 878 video capture card. ($20 from e-bay) works great.
