Need software rip CD or convert .WAV to .MP3 in Linux

Could someone tell me which Linux tool/software to rip/convert CD and or WAV music to MP3 ?

Another question is how to make Web HTML to play MP3 (is it supproted by default or do I need a software for it ? Note: I do know how to make it play WAV files though)

Thanks a lot.

If you have grip, cdparanoia, and lame you can set up grip to use the other two in one easy process. Just stick a CD in, click a few buttons, and it will rip and encode for you. I think it even looks up titles from freedb now.

I use cdda2wav to rip them to .wavs, then Sox to convert them to mp3s.
