Need Gentoo Stage 3 Assistance

After reading Gentoo's x86 installation instructions and their "quick install reference, I'm still a bit confused as to which instructions apply and do not apply to which stage of the installation.

When doing a Stage 3 install from local disk, which instructions should be ignored?

I am not quite understanding your question. You may need to rephrase it a little. They offer both a stage3 and stage3 GRP. I think the difference is with the GRP you do not need an internet connection.

I just reread your question. You say from a local disk, so does that mean you are not using the internet to install?

follow this install guide it will lead you thru the install one step at a time

just skip the obvious steps... 11. Starting from Stage1 and 12. Starting from Stage2 and continuing Stage1

Actually, you're right... I didn't phrase my question too coherently. My bad!

What I'm asking is for specific instructions for the Stage 3 "insternet-less" install for the Pentium 3 2-disc set.

The URL above is actually the instructions that confused me. Id does not specify "If you're doing a stage 3 internet-less install, do only these steps..."

That's whats confusing me.

Thanks your your time!

trust me, I am no genius. The instuctions are pretty clear. Just follow them closesly and slowly one at a time. It helped me to print out the whole guide. I was able to relax and read it that way. I also had it right by me when I installed. Good luck
