ncurses5-dev problem

hi,

I tried to do

# make menuconfig
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lncurses
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

>> Unable to find the Ncurses libraries.
>>
>> You must install ncurses-devel in order
>> to use 'make menuconfig'

make[2]: *** [scripts/lxdialog/ncurses] Error 1
make[1]: *** [menuconfig] Error 2
make: *** [menuconfig] Error 2

my next thought was to install the ncurses, but
what's that message supposed to mean?

# apt-get install libncurses5-dev
...
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libncurses5-dev: Depends: libncurses5 (= 5.2.20020112a-7) but 5.4-2 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

which package is meant and where can i find it?

i'm a little bit confused about this incident, so thanks for your help.
