Nagios NSclient question

I have not been able to install NSclient on any of my regular NT machines. I get different errors for each box. Has anyone else had this problem?

We have nsclient running on multiple Windows servers: NT, 2000 and 2003.

You need to be more specific with the errors you're getting.

You have to have NT 4.

Hi!

Does anyone know how to install nsclient on ubuntu linux? Or anything similar to nsclient. I'm using a java api called nsclient4j in order to get the values from the nsclient. I've done it on windows. I need to do it also on linux. Pls help.

Hi,

I've had trouble with installing and setting up NSClient on Windows some time ago too. That's why I switched to using NRPE which works like a charm, both on Windows and Linux. Documentation can be found here.

You really shouldn't append new questions to 4 year old posts. Typically the only ones that will see those are the people that subscribed at the time. If you open new threads for new questions they get much higher visibility.

EricTRA is right on the mark - the best way to monitor Linux/UNIX clients is with NRPE. You have to install the package on your Nagios master to get the check_nrpe plugin there then on each of your clients to get the nrpe client which can be run as a daemon or with (x)inetd.
