Mozilla thunderbird freezing hard on mouse click

Thunderbird ramdomly freezes when I mouse click something. No turning back. Keyb and mouse are simply gone.
The system is still alive, I can ssh into it from another machine. I tried to kill thunder process over ssh, but it doesn't bring my screen, keyb and mouse back. I even tried to kill Xserver as root over ssh, but no good. The kill command returns no error, but the screen is definately frozen. Only a reboot will bring it back.
Did someone experience this?

Please help?

System is Debian sid, kernel 2.6.8.1 for athlon. Thunderbird 0.8. No other program has such issue.
