Monitor refresh rate discrepancy.

Hi,
I am using Asus A7V266 mobo and Slackware 10.
I was getting a flickered display on my Philips 107Es so I modified xorg.conf display section as follows
Quote:
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "My Monitor"
HorizSync 50 - 70
VertRefresh 70-85
EndSection
I RTFM and found that my monitor supports upto 70 kHz Horizontal and upto 88 Hz Vert. refresh @ 1024x768.

Now this is where it gets interesting; Display properties in Control center show current settings as 1024x768 and Refresh rate of 85 Hz but the monitor reports current settings as Resolution: 1024x768 and Frequency: 48K/60 Hz (through the front panel buttons).

Now the refresh rate doesn't look like 85 Hz, I am not sure though.

Can someone point to the cause of this discrepancy between Control Center Display properties and the monitor status?
How can I get actual 85 Hz on monitor?
