Making Epiphany appear as Firefox

I use Epiphany. That is a Web browser. Some Web sites say "designed for use with Firefox". They cause lots of trouble, until I go into 'about:config' and change the user agent to "Firefox/2.0". Then the Web sites that are "designed for use with Firefox" suddenly work great.

The problem:

The about:config user agent information keeps reseting every time I reload Epiphany.

How can I keep this information from reseting? I want it always to be set at "Firefox/2.0"

Hey General.

I've never really used Epiphany before, I'm a Firefox and Opera man myself, but try opening Epiphany as root, and setting the user agent as root. Here's how:

1. Open a terminal.
2. type:

Code:

su

and enter the root password.
3. type in the terminal:

Code:

epiphany

4. when it opens, follow the same steps you did before to change the user agent.

I don't know if this will work or not, just a guess

Woah, hang on, don't do that. There's no reason to ever run a web browser as root, and a setting like this is all internal/in user-owned config files.

I don't know anything about epiphany, but I Googled a little and came up with this. It doesn't make any mention of permanence, but my guess is that it will stick if you set it with a new entry like that.

Perhaps the epiphany-extensions package has an extension for switching the user-agent. I don't think this would prevent you from having to reset it each time, but it may make resetting it less of a hassle.
