lsdvd won't compile

I have mplayer installed and working fine. Trying to install acidrip which requires lsdvd to be installed first but...

configure: error: libdvdread not found!
user@cromag:~/lsdvd-0.9$ locate libdvdread
/usr/lib/libdvdread.so.2
/usr/lib/libdvdread.so.2.0.2
/usr/lib/libdvdread.so.3
/usr/lib/libdvdread.so.3.0.0

I saw one other post about lsdvd not running correctly and the solution was putting libdvdread into /usr/lib. Not sure which way to go from here. Any ideas?

Personally i'm not too hot with configure scripts and there have been a few problems with lsdvd's configure script... even though it's totally standard...

only thing i might be able to guess at though (as this seems to conincide with libdvdread 3 coming out (8 think) is that the API might have actually changed, and the test functions it uses possibly do not exist... You can try editing the configure.in script and remove the dvdread dependency check and it should still compile ok then afaik. But as to why it doesn't work... my part of generating that is like... 2 lines... don't see how this is possibly my fault! guess it must be though!

Well it's working. I kind of wimped out and too the easy way though. You gotta love Debian.
I removed mplayer, added these to /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://marillat.free.fr/ unstable main
deb http://marillat.free.fr/ testing main

Then apt-get install mencoder mplayer acidrip
