Long delay after R-click in gedit; unable to R-click & paste Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
There appear to be no other posts addressing this specific gedit issue, so am presenting it to Forum.
Good morning to all.
After installing Ubuntu 18.04 LTS last week i note that r-clicking in gedit to bring up a drop-down menu is delayed by 6 seconds. It's click ~ wait.
I am also unable to manifest a r-click menu AT ALL in Firefox and T-bird login windows. No more copy/paste of passwords, apparently.
So, does this imply that the 'paste' function in Ubuntu-Linux is UN-secure and that when we, say, paste a password to enable Firefox' Autowrite feature for login purposes, we risk being monitored?
I'd much rather the Devs strive to make the paste function secure than to simply forbid it altogether in lieu of a work-around.
Or. . . is my new system malfunctioning?
The newness of 18.04 poses an aura of mystery in re standards intended vs 'standards' NOT intended. I.e., there's no way to know for sure if this r-click delay in gedit and the denial of copy-paste are bona fide or whether they are the results of a malfunction.
Any advice will be well received.

05-25-18 UPDATE:
Problem with paste function solved; use middle-click to paste in Ubuntu 18.04, as set via Ubuntu 18.04 Tweaks/Activities configurator
Still experiencing issue with r-click 6-second delay in gedit
