login screen resolution

Hi everyone,

This is my first post so hello everyone and hope you are all well.

my problem is that I have installed fedora core 4 and changed my screen resolution to 1024x768 but when i log in my login box is huge on resolution 800x600 i think.

How can i change this to be 1024x768?

I have tried searching round google but all i get is people trying to change the resolution after they have logged in.

Cheers

Morph.

Hi,
I usually find that the login screen is a pretty good indicator of what the desktop is going to look like.
If you just right clicked on the desktop and changed the display from there, that might not have as good results as using the command:
system-config-display

to get the screen resolution right on my desktop i edited xorg.conf to add in "1280x1024" then changed it thourgh the desktop gui, desktop - screen resolution. Trouble is the log in scrreen is still stuck at "800x600". My xorg.conf looks like this:

> Section "Screen"
> Identifier "Screen0"
> Device "Videocard0"
> Monitor "Monitor0"
> DefaultDepth 24
> SubSection "Display"
> Viewport 0 0
> Depth 16
> Modes "800x600" "1280x1024"
> EndSubSection
> SubSection "Display"
> Viewport 0 0
> Depth 24
> Modes "800x600" "1280x1024"
> EndSubSection
> EndSection

Do i need to change the "800x600" to something else? or is teh setting somewhere else?
