Hi,

More specs, please. I suspect that your taskbar is set up in such a way, it floops out of sight to make room...

Okay, what distro do you use (Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian, ...), what desktop(Gnome2, Gnome3, XFCE,...), etcetera...

Oh, and, welcome here! I hope we can make your Linux experience a pleasant and educational one!

Hmm, okay. You've had your setup tweaked to use autologin...it still does not explain the taskbar.

Is it a new install? Did it hide all the time or just now. Move the mousepointer to the taksbar (or, where it's supposed to be) and see what happens...does it floop into sight?

Lemme know...

ubuntu what ? 10.10, 11.04 or some older version

without knowing what you did
like installing any software ?
or changing some setting someplace ?

or things like this
IF 3d desktop effects were installed and ON
then a new 3d driver or updated kernel was installed
what you described might happen

so did you install any software right before this happened ?
