links2 mouse support logitech trackman marble

Heylo,

I've just installed links2 on my Slack 10.1 box with no x support.
The graphics work beautifully, but for some odd reason whenever I try to use the trackball the pointer zooms up to the top left hand corner and sticks there.

If I roll the ball enough it'll zoom to the right and then zip back to the left in half-a-second.

Links2 uses gpm to give you mouse support and when not running links2 gpm works fine, it even works fine in the original links and elinks. But when running links2 it acts up. I thought well, hmmm, maybe since gpm is already running it is interfering with links2s attempt to initialize it. But no such luck.

Anybody got suggestions?

Thnx
WB

Fix-ed

Hey ppls,

Never mind me. I fixed it. It turned out to be a problem with svgalib. All I did was edit /etc/vga/libvga.config. I commented out the lines :

Code:
#mouse_accel_type	normal	# No acceleration while delta is less then
				# threshold but delta is multiplied by
				# ....... (deleted)
#mouse_accel_type	power	# The acceleration factor is a power function
				# of delta until it reaches m_accel_mult. It
				# .......
And then uncommented :
Code:
###### I uncommented this line to turn off acceleration - important!
mouse_accel_type	off	# No comment...
This made the pointer stop zooming to the left corner. But it still couldn't be controlled properly.

So in the mouse type section I commented :
Code:
#mouse Microsoft
And uncommented :
Code:
mouse PS/2
And voila it works.

Hope this helps someone else too.

WB
