Question

I have set up linux the Mandrake 7.2b version. everything sounds ok in loading linux. and when i boot up to windoze 2000, it seems ok until comes to the GUI, AND PROMPTs to say"loading the personal settings" and playing the welcome sound wave. THEN go the infinte LOOP loading the personal setting. AS i guess. it is the path setting, when i add the linux partition. i think the logical drive letter(or partition id) is for the windoze 2000 is changed.
so anyone give me a hand will be greatly appreciate.
(and can i use linux fdisk to fix this problem??)

It appears that you have a windoze problem, nothing to do with Linux unless you have instaled Linux on a seperate HD on /dev/hda (Master drive on the IDE 0). Have you?

You say that you can see load Windoze using LILO, in which case LILO would have done its job. I wouldn't use the Linux version of Fdisk to fix a windows problem.

Not a Linux problem

I agree. LILO is working correctly and there is nothing wrong with the Linux portion of your machine. You are having a problem with the Windows2000 installation. You can try to boot to the CD and go into recovery mode or if you have a Rescue Disk, which all really smart people do, then you can do a Windows2000 repair. Sounds like an application was recently installed into Win2000 and its trying to finish setting that up for the user logging on but is not able to do so.
