I am too getting the Kernel Panic Message...installing on a Soyo MOBO with a AMD Duron Processor (1.2Ghz)...512 MB RAM 80 Gig Maxtor Drive, GeForce 2 MX 200 video. Is there something wrong with these processors? Boy I hope not...

No, there's nothing wrong. Whats wrong is with the linux kernel's handling of these cpus, since XP, 98, 2000 etc. run perfectly well on these cpus/boards.

You are right...there is nothing wrong with the processors...that would be terrible if there was, and since the last post I got RH 7.2 working on the system...WHOOHOOO!!!

Got a Duron 900 and never had a kernelpanic - except the time I compiled the kernel myself for the first time. But as far as I am informed there is only a problem with certain mobo's and Athlon procesors - not Duron.

AMD warnings from Redhat

Don't work too hard at trying to find the documentation. I found it and bookmarked it. I went back about a week or two later and got 404 instead of the tip. Good thing I could read my scribbles on (beer) napkins near the computer. Easy come easy go.

The latest URL I found for their 'issue' is this:
http://www.redhat.com/support/resources/gotchas/7.2/

Give it a try to prove to those around you you're not panicing or losing you mind ( I have seen a DEC once admit it lost its sanity).
