kdebase not recognizing XFree86-xfs package as xfs

Hi, I'm trying to upgrade from kde 3.1 to 3.2. I am using srpms for fedora
core. However, my system is actually an RH9, but I really want to utilize the
SRPMS, and they are a pain to find unless I use apt. So, I have the prereq
software installed, and kdebase is still complaining about missing xfs.
However, XFS is installed, it's in the package XFree86-xfs. Does anybody know
why kdebase isn't recognizing this? I have looked for an explanation on google
and kde and fedora.redhat.com, but I have yet to find a package called xfs, or
docs that suggest that this shouldn't work. My system is already screwed
because of the choppy kde situation, so I'd rather not tear out all of the
X11 packs and reinstall that, although I understand that may be necessary :-(.
I can do a rpm -Uvh kdebase*rpm --nodeps just fine, but then apt complains,
and I don't want kdebase to not think xfs is installed.

Thanks for any and all help!
Mike.

Well, I decided to go all out. I've erradicated my whole X-system, I removed anything gnome, kde, XFree86, and I am starting from scratch and source with checkinstall to handle the rpm's. This really is the best way to go, optimization will be there, and thus an overall better system

Mike.
