KDE Keyboard Problems

I am running Debian testing with the latest testing release of KDE (3.3.2). Once logged in KDE always runs flawlessly.
The only problem is that whenever I boot up my system the keyboard does not work (PS/2). I then use the mouse to go to a console login at which time the keyboard works. I log in and restart kdm using:

invoke-rc.d kdm

The keyboard then works I can login and everything wokrs great.
Any ideas?
