java in linux

i play poker at dynamitepoker.com and it uses java
anyways all the fonts look a little weird and the typing boxes are a little messed up cuz when i type it looks like all of it is a little offplaced to the bottom so i can only see like the top half of the text

is there anyway to fix this issue and maybe use a different font in the java window???

thanks again

if the applet does not give u a possibility to change the fonts - u cant change them, as far as i know
did u try out different browsers? might be a solution to use different one.

Not to single you out, but I sometimes have a problem with these type of posts. And we see them all the time.

It's like the guys is asking: How do I change the brake pads on my Ford truck?

And then he's being told: Forget that, you should get a Honda.

I don't think that is true. I took it to mean that the fonts in firebird work well with java. It was a suggestion to try another browser to see if it solves the font problem.
But I do agree with you about Ford vs. Honda posts that do not address the original question. All through life we experience these question and responses. How can I better my bike--replace the frame, tires, handlebars etc. How can I speed up my computer--throw it away and buy another one. It's very annoying.
FWIW,
Jeem

In my opinion there are tons of browsers to use but there are only a select few that are worth while because of what they support. I like Mozilla a lot because its basicaly netscape, which is very widely supported, now IE would be my number one choice for a browser but since theyre isnt an IE for linux i chose mozilla, and now they have mozilla firebird which i am very happy with. It was just my opinion and i didnt even tell them to go out and get it i was just saying that it was a good browser in case they were looking for suggestions. and now i see that i typed Mozills instead of Mozilla, dont i feel silly

well i dont know if you have suns java or what but i never had much luck with that so i use the www.blackdown.org java and i think 1.4.1 is the best one i had trouble with 1.4.2 dont know if theyve fixed yet or not. but afte ryou uncompress it you need to make a symlink from the javaplugin_oji file in the java1.4.1 directory to the plugins directory of your browser. if you need me to do a step by step just let me know. im not sure if you can understand what i wrote, im not a good explainer

My sig shows you how to install java & flash in Firebird/fox. Might want to give it a whiz.

But yeah, you might want to try other browsers too. Not everyone takes a liking to Firefox.

well alot of my browsers do work
but unfortuannly the text in the text boxes under the poker applet i play is really offplaced and i can't see it (just the top of the charachters)
is this browser dependent or would another browser actually help?
so far i have the same problem in epiphany konqueror and mozilla
so i am guessing it is not browser dependent ........
maybe a config file in some java directory?????

i dont think u can simply change sth in your java configuration to get the applet being displayed correctly. did u report that to dynamitepoker? should be their issue to change the source code of the applet so it is displayed right on various os. what java version do u use?
