You can't have searched very hard......

to mount:
mount -t iso9660 yourfile.img /foo/example -o loop
(replaceing /foo/example with the directory you'd like to mount the image to)

to burn, use cdrecord, read the CD-Writing HOWTO, (http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO...ing-HOWTO.html) for details of how to install and configure this package. You can use it from the command line, or obtain a GUI front-end like XCDroast or eRoaster, to make things a bit simpler....

just install mkisofs, cdrecord and xcdroast and you'll be fine.... (assuming your burner is correctly setup ... read the HOWTO, it's useful

cdrecord -scanbus

get the three digits for your cd-rw drive. usually 0,0,0 if you only have one drive

then a cdrw drive recognized as 0,0,0 by above command and has a speed of 8 you would type as root in directory of .img file

cdrecord -v dev=0,0,0 speed=8 nameofimage.img

basically you only have one step
1)find name of dev. if using kernel 2.6 it will probably be different.....in 2.6 mine is /dev/hda while in 2.4 on the same machine it is 0,0,0.
