how to restore deleted items in fluxbox

Hi there,
[I am running a Gentoo with Fluxbox]
Well, I've made a major error today. By mistake I have delete the /usr/portage directory files. Now I cannot emerge anything. When I try to emerge "something" it gives me the following error:
Quote:
!!! ARCH is not set... Are you missing the /etc/make.profile symlink?
!!! Is the symlink correct? Is your portage tree complete?
Does someone know how I can restore all those files please? Or have another idea to how to make my portage work?

A quick answer would be great.
Thanks alot.

this as nothing to do with fluxbox at all, that just happens to be the window manager that made the terminal window you did it in look pretty.

if you delete /usr/portage then that'll serve as a leason to not be root when you don't need to be! To restore it i *think* you just need to run "emerge sync" but you might need to resort to manually extracting the base layout of it from an installation tarball. never done it myself, but i'd think a normal sync will do it. make sure /usr/portage exists first, everythign else should follow.
