How to remove programs from startup?

I don't need sendmail and xfs (this is referring to the partitioning format, right?), along with some others. How do I get it to stop loading so I get a faster bootup?

Thanks.

Go to you'r program bar and up to system settings, then to server settngs , type in the root password and you'll get alist of processes the ones with check marks start at startup, just uncheck the ones that you don't want to start. Also if you highlight the program it shows a descritpion of that program and what it does. The xfs you mentioned is x file system, its used to share files over the network with windows pcs.
hope this helps.

Great thats helped a ton! Are these the settings just for servers and network stuffs, or are these all different services? I don't see xfs, so I guess not. Where are the other settings for that? (do I have to be init 3 to be able to do chkconfig xfs off?--what exactly is xterm-standard terminal?)

Do I need sgi_fam or sshd?

Thanks a bunch.
