I would like to record from a composite video and audio source (the 3 RCA video and audio cables). I have mythdora to record tv shows but not sure if mythdora can do this kind of recording. I have a hauppage analog tv capture card. Is there any linux distro live or installed or software app that would be recommended? Vlc media recorder has a selection for choosing a capture device. Is there another capture device that would be recommended? I want the recorded format to be compatible with various players, too.
Since the artistx tutorial deals with the vlc player, I checked my myth box and it does have vlc. The tutorial and my myth tv box differ in their versions. I am using mythdora version 5 with the hauppage 150 video capture card. My card is listed in vlc. File > open capture device > select pvr tab. I do not see where to save the file. I have used vlc many times as a player, but never to record.
