first, you need the develpment version of fluxbox (current 0.99) for being able to use those cools themes with pixmaps,

download some themes from fluxmod.dk
install aterm or eterm for transparent console, set menu alpha on fluxbox to something lower than 170

Enjoy

The file manager is rox and it can also be used to draw the desktop wallpaper and put icons on desktop. you can also use rox to put a panel on the desktop. here is a shot of my fluxbox using rox to do this.

Transparent aterm: use aterm options. "man aterm" will give you info on this. If you want to remove borders, use the "toggle decorations" and "remember" features of the development fluxbox.
Console as part of te background: I guess this would either be root-tail or a terminal with transparency and no borders.

aterm is pretty easy to make trsnsparent, just edit your menu file and put the following line in:

[exec] (aterm) {aterm -tr -trsb -sh 60 fg white}

-tr makes it transparent, -trsb gives you a transparent scrollbar, sh 60 will shade the transparency to 60% & fg white gives you white text.
Thats just the way i use it obviously you can tweak it however you want just typ aterm --help for all the options.

however, i do have a question if anyone knows, how can you make a borderless window in blackbox/fluxbox/openbox anyone have any ideas? this i think is what the origional poster was after finding out too ... to make the console a part of the background.

Wow, i just installed rox right now and i love it!! I was used to use konqueror, but it always takes a lot of time to load and rox is soo fast, almost instantly!
I really recommend it !

Btw, how can i change the icons?? I like the ones that come with rox, but it would be nice also to put some others. I'm using fluxbox 0.9.9

Thanks

I'm unable to get karamba themes to work in fluxbox. Any hints on how you got them to work. Specificly, the transparency just doesn't work. I do have transparency enabled in the development version of fluxbox and I'm using Esetroot I think.

I couldn't get karamba to work with fluxbox either. I am using gdesklets. works perfectly with fluxbox.

MorningStar... that is "starterbar" for gdesklets.
