how to install linux on ur external hard disk


Hello i want to know that can i keep my vista on the laptop and then boot the system from an external drive to use linux...i tried the usb creator given on the fedora project homepage but while booting the system when i tried to install it it was giving an option to install it on the laptop....

Please suggest something im a newbie to linux...

IMHO try showing us the errors you are getting when you try the USB installation. A little detail always helps.
