How to diagnose a hanging or looping process?

I'm running Linux 2.6.24.111 mips (DD-WRT Linux) and I've got some software I'm trying to get running but it seems to be entering a loop or maybe hanging.

There's got to be a way to do some sort of thread dump to find out where it's going wrong, no?

Not sure what other info I should be providing. I'm kinda stumbling my way through this.

Thanks!

Well, if you could show us the code and the symptoms, it would help a lot...

I'm really not sure what code to give. Here's the packages I'm using:

Main program:
asterisk18_1.8.25.0-1_mipsel.ipk

GUI:
asterisk-gui_2.1.0-rc1-1_mipsel.ipk

once turned on it opens up a webserver on port :8088. When I try to access anything on in the /static-http/config/ directory from the browser something that webpage does is not exactly hanging the main program but it stops working correctly.

I have to SIGKILL the process and restart it before it will work again.

I haven't managed to get any debug info from the program to help me figure out what's causing the issue.

Sorry, we need exact details; the more the better..
IOW, exactly what do you do, what makes you think there's a problem?
We can't see what you're doing.

Browser side: going to http://192.168.1.1:8088/static/config/index.html

A little bit of the header for the page will sometimes display before it just hangs at "Waiting for 192.168.1.1" and keeps on waiting. Forever.

Server side (having tried to access the webpage):

Asterisk has a Command Line Interface that you enter into "asterisk -r" or "rasterisk". It will no longer open once the webpage has been accessed.

I'd love love LOVE to give you some error messages or something. I can't find any, hence my issue.
