Having trouble compiling 2.6.3 kernel

I am trying to compile the 2.6.3 kernel with the mm patch installed. i keep getting this error:

...
LD drivers/net/built-in.o
CC drivers/parport/share.o
CC drivers/parport/ieee1284.o
CC drivers/parport/ieee1284_ops.o
CC drivers/parport/procfs.o
LD drivers/parport/parport.o
CC drivers/parport/parport_pc.o
drivers/parport/parport_pc.c: In function `parport_pc_unregister_port':
drivers/parport/parport_pc.c:2337: `priv' undeclared (first use in this function)
drivers/parport/parport_pc.c:2337: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
drivers/parport/parport_pc.c:2337: for each function it appears in.)
make[2]: *** [drivers/parport/parport_pc.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [drivers/parport] Error 2
make: *** [drivers] Error 2

Any ideas as to what would be causing this would be greatly appreciated. It is slackware linux btw.

cheers, Mark.

first, give the command

make menuconfig (console) OR

make xconfig (KDE) or

make gconfig (GNOME)

once you get the configuration menus, search for the "drivers" section and remove entry(s)
for "parport" { Parallel Port } which may be marked EXPERIMENTAL, you may also deselect an option whereever it says "If unsure say "N".

After you finish with possible changes, save the file as .config and then give the command

make

That should help...

Regards,

amit
