GRUB transparent selection with splashimages

I use Debian Sarge with GRUB from the stable tree. My problem is as follow:

I want to have a transparent selection line in the boot menu. When the bootloader boot I've a black background color for the selected entry. Now when I go to the grub console by pressing 'c' and than enter 'color 1 1' and switch back to the menu via 'ESC' I got the transparent selection background and only a white cursor at the right side. I tasted a lot of combinations for the color entry in the menu.lst. Anyone know how to get transparent background at boot-time??????

You can put colors into the grub.conf like this....

Edit: You may also prefer to leave the splash image in the grub.conf and edit it with the Gimp. Do a bucket fill with black color.
