GRUB bootloader spits out "GRUB hard disk error"

I have just installed Fedora Core 3 on an IDE hard drive on a computer with an existing version of Windows XP on 2 SATA hard drives configured in RAID 0. Why does it a) does not detect Windows during installation and b) not boot up even Fedora Core which it did detect?

The bootloader only gives a "GRUB hard disk error" message. Also, I think Anaconda is not detecting the Windows install since it is on a RAID configuration. The SATA disks are recognised as /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. The RAID controller is a Promise 376. I also have setup a 80mb /boot partition as well.
