graphics programming with gcc

hello!
I have to implement the classic graphics algos using gcc (it's a lab exercise).
Long before i have tried it using turbo c. Which are the important library modules and headers that i have to use? From where i can get more information on it?

Try SDL from www.libsdl.org if your doing 2d algorithms or opengl (www.opengl.org) if your doing 3d algorithms
