Gnome-panel keep restarting and crashing


im very new to linux and have been messing around with hylafax and thats about it. its redhat 9 no idea what verson of gnome it is i cant find out the easy wat "right click help" as my pannel is blank all it says is "Appliccation "gnome-panel (process 2798) has crashed due to fatel error." im new to linux so if you guys do make anything of this and know what can be done to fix it try and speak newbie linux lol

Probably your Gnome config files are broken. Try going to a real terminal with Ctrl-Alt-F1 (or F2,F3,etc.) and log in normally. Then issue command

rm -rf .gnome*

This will remove all gnome config files from your home dir. This is okay, because the next time you login they will be recreated with default values. To get back to X (graphical mode) try Ctrl-Alt-F7. If this does not help, then you might have to reinstall gnome-panel (see Redhat docs for more info on that).

well that didnt really work to good has to fiddle abit on my own but i new where to start thanks as the command i typed (maybe i was doing it rong) did not work and i had deleted one of the confige file when i was logged in and then logged out again it was ok well different but fixed cheers
