Firefox font issue when css px is used instead of pt

I have noticed that fonts are not looking good at all in firefox when the author has used pixels instead of point size to set the size of the font.

Example problem site: https://facelets.dev.java.net/

When points are used, the fonts are fine.

Setup:
Debian etch
xfce 4.3.99.1-1
Xorg 7.1.0-5
Firefox 1.5.0.7-2

I do have anti-aliasing and RGB pixel hinting full turned on in XFCE. I have MS TTF fonts installed and on my font path as well as other debian TTF font packages.

Any idea why the 14px vs. 14pt would cause such a large difference? Is this standard in firefox to not render pixel sized fonts in linux well?

Thanks,
Andrew
